Why the Bible?
Since it was first published, the Bible has been the world’s most popular book, outselling all others century after century. People on every continent regard it so highly that even those who are not Jesus-followers respect it. However, for those of us who do follow Jesus, it’s more than just a book. It’s a love letter from Heaven containing the words of life. It’s the light to our path. It’s the very mind of God. If you are wondering whether you ought to consider following Jesus, everything you need to know to do so can be found within the pages of the Bible.
As old as the Bible is, it never becomes outdated. Its bits of information cannot expire or lose their power. God never changes, and neither does His Word. This is why The Bible People cling to it so strongly! As our world around us grows darker and darker, God’s Word within us shines brighter and brighter. It is as trustworthy and illuminating as the rays of the sun.
Who are the Bible People?
We have already identified the term “The Bible People” as an old-time, friendly nickname for members of the Churches of Christ, but we admit it doesn’t go far in telling you who we truly are. Honestly, we are so eager for you to know us that it might be better to begin by first telling you who we are not. You may be surprised at what you learn!
Core Values
The Churches of Christ have no world or national headquarters, no diocese network, no regional/state/county controllers. They are totally autonomous, and this means that each congregation’s leaders interpret scripture as best as they can and apply them to their church as they see to be fit and proper. However, there are some core values you may expect to be congruent in the majority of the congregations of America’s Churches of Christ.
Good News!
You may or may not have heard this already, but there is good news for all of us who continually fail to measure up to the righteousness of the Holy God – and that is, literally, all of us. God loves us so much that He gave us a way to be with Him forever through His Son, Jesus! He wants everyone to hear this news and come home to Him in Heaven. Would you like to hear it?
